#10 : Real Life Kryptonite

While an excavation in Serbia geologists found a white, powdery mineral that was not like anything in the books. So they turned this to mineralogist at London's Natural History Museum, Chris Stanley, who discovered that it was sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide which is the same chemical composition as the fictional kryptonite, The green glowing rock that is Superman's weakness. Its chemical composition was revealed in Superman Returns (2006) when villain Lex Luthor writes the formula on a box of rocks he steals from a museum. The substance found was named jadarite, after the place in which it was found. It can't be called kryptonite, alas, because the name krypton has already existing real element found in the form of a gas.
