#9 : Oldest Animal of the world

In October, some researchers from Bangor University in Wales came across what was afterwards known as the oldest living animal on the earth while trawling an ocean shelf off the coast of north Iceland : a 405 year-old clam. It was living till the researches had to kill the animal to find out it's age by counting it's rings on the shell. This paticular specimen was spending it's protracted life burrowed in sand 262 feet under water when the English were first setting up camp in America
